Test Your Way Out of Tuition Costs
If you've paid attention in high school and mastered the material, you may find that you can save some tuition money by taking advantage of the college-level examination program-CLEP, for short.
The CLEP exams cover material that is taught in classes students typically take during their first two years of college. However, if you've taken some advanced classes during high school and done pretty well, you may already know that material.
Score well enough on the CLEP test and you will be set to start college with credits for what you already know!
Tests are offered in 33 different subject areas, ranging from literature and history to foreign languages, science and business.
The tests cost around $65 each-a steal compared to hundreds or thousands per class in tuition costs.
Colleges and universities throughout the commonwealth of Kentucky participate in the CLEP program. To find out if the one in which you're interested is included, visit www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/clep/about.html.
Guidelines for the CLEP program vary from school to school, so be sure to check with individual colleges or universities to learn about specific requirements.
